| You would? Probably not because I'm from Europe:o) Well, it's never universal. We generally cross our 7s but some people don't either. By full stop and comma, I meant the difference in decimal points and dividing thousands... I'm writing my diploma thesis on a non-native variety of English and there's supposed to be a page on the differences in graphics. I cannot find any sources, so I'm looking for bits and pieces on the internet... |

| Oh yes! For me, 1.000 is a very precise way of saying "one, exactly, and not a tiny bit more or a tiny bit less (to within 1/1000)" I understand elsewhere it's one thousand. I've also heard that 10^9 is not called a billion elsewhere, as it is here. Is that true?

| Yep, one thousand for me. What you call "billion", we call "miliarda", so it is true indeed. I'm not sure about other languages but I think it might be similar in other European languages, most likely in Slavic languages. |
