Default our path at work cross???

Can anybody help me to get it?

1. Everytime our paths at work cross, he recognizes me.
( what does it mean by everytime.... cross?_

2. I can't just up and move because i have to care for my mom. ( up and move is an idomatic expression?

3. also, what is the difference between recognize and notice?

for example, at first, I didn't recognize her at the bar or at first, I didn't notice her at the bar.( any differnce? ) Please help me!!!!!!

When the paths of two people cross, they run into each other, they encounter each other.

"Up and move" means suddenly change your location, move to a new area.

I didn't notice her = I didn'tsee her; I wasn't aware she was there.
I didn't recognize her = I saw her but I didn't realize she was a person I knew or should have known.
