Hi curmudgeon,

The sentence is in an introduction to an environmental protector. The last twe sentences are:

Carson died in 1964 after a long battle against breast cancer. Her witness for the beauty and integrity of life continues to inspire new generations to protect the living world and all its creatures.

She is the symbol of beauty and integrity, which inspires new generations. Is that right?

Yes, and you could change 'witness' to 'legacy' - something she left behind.
