Default travelling at triple the speed

"travelling at triple the speed"
"triple" here is an adjective meaning "three times as much or as many". But I've never seen an adjective followed by "the". What do you say? Could you give me some more examples?

The construction is a bit idiomatic, but we use it with comparitive measurements.

He wanted a house twice the size of that one.
A sandwich half the size of that one would be enough.
