I don't know Lotus, but this usually works on Windows:

1. Make sure the NumLock light is lit. Press NumLock if necessary.
2. Press the Alt key and hold it down.
3. Using the numeric keypad on the right of the keyboard, type the number 0150.
4. Release the Alt key. Hey presto! (Hopefully.)

For an em dash, in case you need one, the procedure is the same, except that the number is 0151.

I don't know if it works for you, but a hyphen can be used for a en dash and two hyphens can be used for an em dash.

I don't know about Lotus either, but with QWERTY/Windows 2000/Word it's just <control>/<number-pad-hyphen>.

This is typographically incorrect and unacceptable for professional use. A hyphen is a hyphen and is not any kind of dash; it is also shorter than an en dash.

Microsoft Word, by default, automatically converts two hyphens into an em dash; but this is a feature of Word, not Windows, and may not work on Lotus.

I understand, but it works for mere mortals.
