Murder is never a good thing, but "murder most foul" is a particularly detestable crime, because of the victim, the means, or the numbers.

Thank you for the quick reply!

Seeing the the iron is still hot, I am thinking of strucking another question: What does the word in bold below mean. "And of course the words My Lai are now uttered again. Yes, the Nazis were much worse. And the Japanese."

    Thank you again!

    And another piece:

"For who can be held to account when we regard ourselves as the brightest, the most honorable of creatures, doing endless battle with the killers of Sept. 11 or July 7 because we love our country and our people --"

Again, what does the bold mean?

My Lai is a village in Viet Nam and was the site of a US atrocity in the Viet Nam War.

    Thank you Mike!

I wander if you can answer my last question; it is before your last reply and perhaps it has skipped from your eyes.

Thanks a lot, you were a great help.

"Can be held to account" means "can be judged responsible".
