Default Put the drinks away

Hi,

Can you tell me what the meaning of 'put the drinks away' is when used after something is finished?

Thank you.

Kombanwa, Haihao.

It could mean to put the drinks back in the cupboard or fridge.

It could mean that someone can really hold his liquor;

"He really puts the drinks away" means he drinks quickly and a lot.

There may be other meanings too.

Thank you very much, Riverkid San (Sir/Ma'am). You really reminded me that it's now evening time (night?) in your place. My Konbanwa to you from the morning here .

Riverkid San, can I ask you one more question about the phrase? When it is used after an unpleasant occasion is over, 'drink quickly and a lot' should be most probable? In this case, here the 'away' could mean 'down the throat' but not 'back to the fridge' as the other two do, am I right?

ARIGATOU (Thank you)!

"He really puts the drinks away" means that they go down the throat and not back to the fridge.

'san wa, irimasen, Haihao. As soon as I posted, I did a quick time change and I realized that it is morning there in Chiba. Ohayo gozaimasu, Haihao.

If that's the context, then yes, as Ron noted.

Thank you very much, RonBee San, for your 'flat-out' and 'cut-through' instruction. I really love it!
ARIGATOU GOZAIMASU! Riverkid, SUBARASHII NIHONGO DESU! Have you ever been to Japan? I guess (sure) you have.
