Opposites-hand in

Could someone please tell me the opposite of "to hand in"?
If students hand in their works to the teacher, how do you say, when the teacher gives them back their works, tests, etc.? I know you cannot say "delivery", because this word has a completely different meaning....

A teacher can hand back or hand out your homework.

Consider this;
It's the first Friday afternoon of the new term. The teacher hands out the homework to the students for the weekend. Monday comes, and as we know, students being industrious and hard-working hand in the homework to the teacher for marking... The following Friday the teacher returns the marked homework from the previous Friday, and hands out new homework for the coming weekend. The next Monday the students return their completed homework for marking... and so on ad infinitum.

Yes. I would prefer "handing back" for returns to separate it from "handing out" the originals. But anything that a teachers gives to students can be called "handing out".
