It's difficult to get the right words sometimes. Firstly, make sure you have a good dictionary with real examples, which will help indicate whether the word fits in the context you are using it in. Use Google- type the word or phrase in and see what comes up; if you're translating a technical document and Google brings up documents of a similar type, it may well be the right word.
