The meaning of these idioms

I run across an article explaining the translation of some Chinese idioms, but I found that the translations did not cover the meaning of the Chinese idioms. Here next I'm going to explain the Chinese Idioms to you and you guys can compare the TRANSLATION GIVEN(BY THE ARTICLE) to my explanation.

Ai bu shi shou( My exp: love something very much, you touch it, you fondle it, so you're reluctant to put down)
Trans Given : fondle admiringly

Bai li tiao yi(My exp: something is exceptional,excellent, you can find only one in 100, it's rare to own or have)
Tras Given: one in hundred

Bo gu tong jin( My exp: somebody is erudite, he knows a lot including the history or past and knowledge of nowadays)
Tras Given: erudite and informed

The first seems odd to me; for one thing, fondle often has sexual connotations.
