Causative use of need?

Dear Teachers,

I started using more complex structures in my writings. I don't know why but they are happening more often than I expected.

Today I wrote something that I am not quite sure it is right.

The phrase is "We need the document target date to be moved from Dec 30 to Feb 28, 2007."

What you think about the expresion?

The sentence sounds fine, Albino. But this is not a "causative use of need".

I have guessed that there was a kind of causative use of the verb need. My first approach with causatives was with the verb to have. Latter, I learnt that verbs like help, let and others verbs could be use for the same purpose.

Maybe -because I feel that the causatives are related with a necessity- I assumed that need also could be considered under the same class as have, let, help, etc.

I'm not quite sure what you mean by causitives, Hector.

Do you mean,

Have something done // Have somebody do something
Get something done // Get sb to do sth

Could you give me some examples and explain a bit further.
