Hi,

could you please tell me what a "publicity release" is in the following sentence:

The seller shall not without the company´s prior consent in writing disclose the existence of the order in any publicity release, advertisement or public announcement.

Does it mean:
1) public statement
2) approval of publication
3) could mean both

It is a statement released to the media, giving information about the service/product/performance. Usually used to encourage reviewing of said product etc. in newspapers, journals, tv, radio.

Moreover, some papers (generally ones with lower editorial standards) simply print publicity releases with no indication that the 'reporter' is in fact someone who wants to release the information as written.
