Default Let's call it a day

Hi all
Can you enlighten me on the following epression
"Let's call it a day". At what time of the day can we use it. I use it only when I am done with my work (of the day). Can we use it in the morning even if we still have some work to do? Thanks for helping

Yes, you can use it at any time. It's a way of saying 'I've had enough, we can continue again later', looking for agreement from others around you. It may be that particular piece of work can wait and allow you to get on with something else. Also to stop an activity;

Footballers know that when they reach a certain age it's time to call it a day.
