Default modal verb

I know there modal verbs like must, ought, would, might etc.

Please can someone give me all the modal verbs in English. I heard the are eleven.

Also, what is style in literature? Can plot be part of stlye?

What is the diference between subject matter and plot?

Can we discuss the mood of a writer as the tone?

Thanks.

Default Re: modal verb

There's some disagreement about exactly which verbs to call modal- some exclude 'ought to', others include it:
Definites: will, would, can, could, may, might, must, should, shall
Others: ought (some dispute this), need and dare (some uses)
I wouldn't say that plot is the style- the story and the way of writing are not the same.
