Default Why is this not correct?

I took a quiz and one of the questions is
I'm pretty tired right now, I'm going home!
    here Pretty is:
    A. an adjective
    B. an adverb

    My answer is B.
But the answer given by www.usingenglish.com is A.

    I'm wondering why?

It is correct as it's modifying an adjective.

    Hi
Tdol is right. Replace "pretty" with "very" and you`ll have an adjective in the superlative :pretty tired/ very tired.

Some Italian food was prettily presented at the party.[ prettily- adverb]

    Hi,
Yes, Johnny, it does feel like an adverb and my A.S.Hornby Oxford dictionary says it really is an adverb.

The problem is that tired is not a verb in that sentence. Instead, it is a predicate adjective. The verb in that sentence is am. You could say it thusly: "Tired is what I am." Clearly, in that sentece tired is not a verb.

But aren't adjectives modified by adverbs?

    extremely tired
    slightly tired
    unbelieveably tired
    oddly tired
    really tired

That's not a superlative; the superlative would be "most tired".

Oh. You mean: The quiz does accept "adverb" as the correct answer?
