    Default A Sentence...

    "she acknowledged with the gentle Edwardian courtesy of tone and manner that betrayed her years far more surely than did her appearance."

    Someone can tell me what this sentence's mean?

    Alos what do "courtesy" and "far more" mean here ?

    it means her speech and manners reflected a bygone age, lost to the modern day person. This served to indicate her age more than her appearance.

    'Courtesy' here means manners. 'Far more' is just another way of saying 'more than'.

    That sentence appears to be lacking a direct object. What did she acknowledge?

    As "answer" has an intransitive use, that is much better. It does not, however, make the original sentence correct.

    Probably, but a prior sentence won't fix this one either.
