Default apposition or defining relative clause?

I'm confused when trying to analyze sentences, when appositions and defining relatice clauses begin with 'that'... what's the difference?

Can you give an example? If the clause begins with "that" and it follows a noun, it is probably a defining relative clause.

IMO, and my 2 cents worth of, a non-defining relative clause is not in apposition with its antencedent because it has a syntactical relation to the rest of the sentence different from that of what it modifies.
