leave...with
(a) Leave your pager number with me, and I'll call you if there's a change.
(b) However, deforestation leaves them with nowhere else to go.
(c) She left her jewels with her niece.
What does "with" mean in Sentence (a), (b) and (c)?
1. However, deforestation leaves them with nowhere else to go.
2. However, deforestation leaves them nowhere else to go.
Is Sentence 2 correct? If yes, what's the difference between Sentence 1 and 2? What's the function of "with" in Sentence 1?
3. She left her niece with the jewels.
4. I left him with the guns.
Are the two sentences correct? If not, why?
Many thanks!

Re: leave...with
a give it to me before you go
b deforestation has resulted in their having noweher else to go
c she gave them to her niece to keep them for her
2 is not wrong, but 'with' gtives the idea that deforestation has produced this result.
3 & 4 are fine

This may be another AmE/BrE difference, but I don't like 3 and 4.
To me, these say the opposite of what is intended. She didn't leave her niece or him. She left the jewels and the guns with people.
