Hi,
As to squeezing, IMHO, it has little or nothing to do with the habit – it’s the word try that governs the form – try buying/ squeezing. You have tried squeezing, now try buying.
I agree with Coffa – rather than confuse yourself and listeners (those who care for grammar) it’s safer to use the Infinitive.
