excuse me, i got a question, could you help me?

q1: wish I could give the author credit------what does that mean?
I think it would be " wish i could trust the author's remark"------true or false? thank you^^
By the way, i asked this question to an english native speaker, and she said " credit here means ' recognize' " , but i can't figure out the whole sentence if credit here means recognize.
"I wish I could give the author credit" means the person doesn't know who the author is and thus he can't give him proper credit.
:)
RonBee,
Thanks for helping ! But i'm still a bit confused!
As you said : "I wish I could give the author credit" means the person doesn't know who the author is and thus he can't give him proper credit.
Q1: the word 'credit' here means "mark? grade? "
Q2: The reason why the person would like to give the author credit is due to the person extremely trust and agree the author's remarks? If it's true, then this sentence "wish I could give the author credit"would be signified " i could trust what the author said" ?
Sorry, i'm full of too many questions! thank you so much, RonBee!
RonBeen,
i got it!! credit here means parise. right? ^_^

Yes, praise or recognition (as Tdol noted). To give an author credit is to acknowledge his work. If you quote some piece of writing and you note that person's name you are giving that person credit (acknowledgement) for having written it.
:)
tdol, i'm so stupid! hah After I consulted the dictionary, i found credit here means recognition!!!
That's it what it is !!!^__^ haha
But i'm confused with usage of many words. for instance, "praise, credit, recognition" I have no idea whether i could use praise, whether i could use credit, and whether i could use recognition, as i 'm expressing praise words!
Thanks anyway^^
thanks RonBee, and tdol!
Credit and recognition mean about the same thing, and they are neutral terms. Praise is different. You praise someone by saying something positive about that person or his work. If you say "Ron did this" that is acknowledgement, or credit. If you say "This work by Ron is wonderful!" that is praise.Originally Posted by sage
