shortened forms in essay writing

Hi again,

Would it be incorrect to write "physio rehab" in an essay? or is it necessary to always have the long forms of these words?

As I mentioned in your other post regarding essays, it depends. It might be alright (I don't know) for essays on biology/medicine, etc. but at least in Literature essays (and I would guess for any formal essay) these should be avoided.

In most cases, it would be better to spell out the words. If you need that phrase many times in the essay, you can abbreviate it in parentheses after the first use and then use the abbreviation later.

Blah blah blah physiotherapy rehabilitation (PR) blah blah blah.
