What does it mean "in this age of compassion, sensitivity, and reverence for depression"? We respect the depressive people??![]()
tks,
This is just my interpretation, but I think it refers to our current climate (in the U.S.) of prescribing anti-depressants (such as Zoloft, Paxil, Prozac, etc) for even the slightest sign of depression. Depression is also a hot topic among people who wouldn't normally discuss their health concerns. People today will admit they suffer from depression before they'll tell you that they're diabetic or have cancer. And some folks tend to embrace or romanticize depression - rock stars, actors, authors etc, will often say that their creativity comes from that "dark place" in their minds when they're depressed.
