Dear teachers,
When we use English to modify adjectives, sometimes 'very' is used while sometimes 'quite' is used. It is very difficult to decide which one to use except the most frequently used ones. Is there a rule for this?
I am looking forward to hearing from you.
Thank you in advance.
Jiang
If the adjective has degrees, then we tend to use 'very'.
'Quite' has two uses- one a moderate modifier and, if it is an extreme adjective we use 'quite'.![]()
Thank you for your explanation. But what are 'extreme adjectives'?
