Hi everyone !
This is my first time here. I am an intermediate level (I suppose...).
Please, I would like to know if there is any difference between "to seek" and "to look for" uses. It depends on the context or not ?
thanks in advance.
I think you are looking for something, when you know it does exist and you are seeking for something, when you're not sure :) I think :)Originally Posted by sbuchalla
It's an interesting distinction that you make between the two, but I am not sure I agree. :)Originally Posted by Android
It is mostly about usage. The two terms are not used the same way. It does seem that when seek is used it is more likely to be about intangible things. Example: "John Kerry is seeking the Presidency."
(Note: You do not need (and shouldn't have) the for in seeking for something.
A Google search for the two terms should turn up plenty examples of each.
