Hi,
Is the word stiff drink an alcoholic drink? Is the word stiff drink the opposite of soft drink?![]()
- but it's a bit more than just alcoholic; it's stronger than usual. A gin and tonic made with lots of gin and not much tonic, for example.
A usage note that's just occurred to me:
This is OK:
'Would you like a drink?'
'Yes - something soft please.'
But you couldn't say *Yes, something stiff please.
There, you'd have to say 'something strong'.
