I have a question. I am a teacher for prep. as a second language .
Iam from Egypt,I am teaching "Hello" english.
On unit 10 ,lesson 4 (a letter ),in this letter a sentence ,I do not think
this is right.
in the letter (After school, I 've been practising the piano a lot because I've got a test next week.)
I want to Know if this right or wrong .
Ithink Just piano without "the"
and I have got a test since then .(or) .........
or for a week .(or )..........

The piano is correct; as it would be for the violin the saxophone the guitar etc.

You could be practising 'piano accompaniments' in which case you would omit 'the'


and the reason you're practising? because you have a test next week, so 'I've got a test next week' is also correct.

No, both those expressions are OK. Maybe you've learnt American English, in which - I believe - it would be more acceptable to say plain piano withut the article; but in British English it's more usual to play the instrument_name.

'I've got a test next week' is fine. I don't see what you don't like about it. You could also say 'I've got a test in a week', though that's slightly different: On Monday of week one you could say 'I've got a test next week' if your test is scheduled for Friday of wk2 (that, is, 12 days away); 'I've got a test in a week' means 'in a week, give or take a few days'. I don't see why you want to talk about a length of time (for/since).
