Appliance and Equipment
Hi,
Yesterday, I read a article, there is a sentence like this, ' The university appealed for money to purchase more advanced teaching equipment', to my mind 'equipment' can be insteaded with 'appliance', can I do so?
Thanks!

Usually, "appliance" is confined to things used in the home.

I don't know what "prejection devices" are. Do you mean projectors?
And "equipment" is almost always uncountable.

Incidentally, 'to instead' is an interesting verb, and we know what you mean, but it's not a word I've ever heard used by a native speaker. What you mean is either 'can be used instead' or 'can replace' or 'can be used to replace' - lots of options, but not 'can be insteaded'

Thanks for your friendly reminding, Bob, could I use reminding here?
