Default In the Future? In Future?

Can anyone tell me which one is correct? Or are they the same? Thanks!!!

In my opinion, in future is starting from now, 'In the future' just means telling somebody what will happen and does not make out the exact time.
Am I right, teachers?

When "future" is used as a noun, it is preceded by the definitie article (except in newspaper headline register).
