Default flat and demonstratives

1.Can you use the term "flat" to refer to an apartment building that has more than 2 floors?
For example, "My flat is on the fourth floor."
2. Is "each other" a demonstrative? How do you know when to use "each other" and when to use "themselves?"

The adjective flat was adopted from Old Scotish. It refers to a level surface, such as the base on which one builds one's home: a flat, level surface. The noun flat refers to a dwelling, an apartment, on a floor of a house or a building. To my knowledge, it's the horizontal area and not the vertical area that's important.

"each other" is a reciprocal pronoun. Reciprocity is involved:

Max and Sam gave each other a book.
=> Max gave Sam a book and Sam gave Max a book.

"themselves" is a reflexive pronoun:

Max and Sam gave themselves a book.
=> Max gave herself a book and Sam gave himself a book.

All the best,
