"That's enough fooling around," the boss told us, "let's get down to work so we can leave here at a decent hour."
Sometimes "get down to" can be used in reference to music:
"All right everybody!" the DJ announced. "It's time to get down to the old school sounds of Kool and the Gang!"
This means the DJ is encouraging everyone to get up and dance.
"Last night my ol' lady and I got down to some Barry White and Teddy Pendergrass."
In this case, "got down" means they had sex while listening to the music. |
