As far as I know, looking a little empty handed means not having much to offer.

• The discussion lasted for a whole night as eveyone seems looking a little empty handed on this issue.

Is my understanding right?
Is the above sentence OK?

'seems looking' doesn't work- just say 'everyone looks empty-handed'. However, I would use it without 'look'- The discussioin lasted for a whole night, but everyone left empty-handed.
