    which one is correct?

    Frank Sinatra was the singer of "My Way"
    Frank Sinatra is the singer of "My Way"

    It depends on the context. Sinatra was the singer or Sinatra sang would be OK as it is in the past and he is no longer with us.

    If you were talking about a record/cd of the song then you could say Sinatra is the singer (on the record)
