When I'm making a new acquaintance, I introduce myself and then end the introduction with "pleased to meat you".

But afterwards, when I leave I'm a bit in trouble

I mostly say "It was a pleasure, hope to see you again"

Does this sound good in native ears?

Or can anyone give me a good all-round "seeya" close?

Not too formal please, Miners don't, so often, make acquaintances among the purple.

Well, "pleased to meet you" is pretty formal itself.

You could say "nice to meet you" at the end.

So, if I'm with you,

"Nice to meet you" can be used, both, at the beginning and at the end of the first contact.

At the beginning it will be understood as "It is nice to meet you"
And at the end it will be understood as "It was nice to meet you"
