| I have come across some notions which I cannot fully understand. If anyone can explain them briefly to me, I will really appreciate it: 1. transfer student 2. night student 3. discussion session 4. a more academic class, usually with grad students (What can that mean?) 5. a student-teacher 6. full-time (part-time) fees 7. a college work-study job 8. What's the difference between a grant and a scholarship? Thank you! |

2. a student who takes classes only at night. 3. This is a class, often with a teaching assistant, to discuss the concepts or materials presented in a lecture by a professor. 4. a higher-level course (as opposed to entry level) 5. someone who is working on his/her teaching degree and needs some classroom experience before graduation. 6. probably those fees assessed to full-time students 7. a part time job that allows time for classes 8. usually a grant is based on financial need and a scholarship is based on merit (but there is overlap). |

| Mike, and what is the difference between "a discussion session" and "a seminar", if any? |

| They could be the same depending on the local definitions. In my college days, "seminars" were upper-level courses run by a professor. "Discussion sessions" were lower-level courses run by a teaching assistant (graduate student). |
