    Default Indirect speecth

    Dear Teacher

The teacher said that the earth is round.

The teacher said that the earth was round.

I believe both sentences are correct? If so, which is more correct?

    Thank you very much.

    With best wishes

Yes, they're both correct. When something is still true at the time of reporting, especially facts, then we tend not to change the verb, so I would use 'is'.
