Default the article "a"

I don't understand the sentence in bold,what did they mean "many a licensed title" ,please explain to me why....

The expression "many a ..." means quite a few of whatever is being discussed.

many a licenced title=many licenced titles

It's not something you see often, and some people consider it archaic or literary
