    Default sent / taken

    Dear Teacher

The injured were sent to hospital for treatment.

The word 'sent' should be replaced by 'taken', shouldn't it?

    Thank you very much.

    Best regards

    Hi there!

I agree with you that sent should be replaced by taken.
Using sent makes me thing a thing was sent to hospital but not humanbeing.

Both "sent" and "taken" can be correct.

A sender causes the patient to be transported to a hospital, but doesn't actually take them.

A taker actually transports the patient.

At the seen of an accident, a policeman, fireman, or doctor may send a patient to the hospital; an ambulance crew may take the patient there.
