Gerund or Present Participle?
Gerund as subject:
'Walking to school is good for your health.'
Gerund as object OR is it the present participle?
'My Teacher says that walking to school is good for your health.'
Is the latter the object gerund or the present participle?

In the second sentence, "walking" is a gerund/noun/subject. The entire noun clause is the object of the verb "says", but the gerund is the subject of that clause.
An object gerund would be:
I love swimming.
