I think that when a sentence begins with a dependent if clause that describes an event unlikely to happen (as this one does), then the independent clause describing the effect of the first clause should be in the subjunctive mood. The present subjunctive mood requires that verbs be used in their base form.

I'm trying to understand the meaning of your sentence. I know that Conditional type 2 describes an event unlikely to happen and refers to the present and future. But here I write "met" and understand "meet".
