Question Unable to understand these two sentences

Dear Teacher,
I have read two sentences and they are the same in sentence pattern:
(1) But it was a new oenology graduate from Wagga Wagga's Sturt College, Rob Bowen, who really put the stamp on Mount Barker as a premium wine producing area.
(2) Tony Smith was pleased and proud at the efforts of individual farmers who had put Mount Barker on the map as a quality wine producer.
I am unable to understand 'put the stamp on Mount Barker as a premium wine producing area' and 'put Mount Barker on the map as a quality wine producer'. I wish you help me. Thanks!

Default Re: Unable to understand these two sentences

"Put a stamp on" and "put on the map" both mean to authenticate, validate, or approve of.
