Default comes or will come? plz help

Dear teachers,
please read the following question.
I think it is necessary for my 19-year-old son to have his own mobile phone, for I sometimes want to make sure if he _____ home for dinner.
comes\will come

I am not sure which one is correct here? comes or will come.

the answer is simple, you can't use the simple future tense in any time clauses (clauses that begin with when,if....)

There's no condition, no if. It's a that clause, like this,

I want to make sure (that) he comes home for dinner.

All the best.
