I'd say that they reflect differing levels of certainty to the speaker, Dinha.


Expect - Believe/Think something will come true
'I expect to go to London next week."

Hope - Doubt that something will come true
"I hope I can go to London next week."

Wish - Realize that something's impossible
"I wish I could go to London next week."

I think you're right, Anglika. Perhaps it would have been better to state it as,

Hope - There's doubt that something will come true
"I hope I can go to London next week.",

to denote that this can show a range from great doubt to very little doubt.
