Do you know what in this sentence is meant about the word "herd":
"How shops can exploit people's herd mentality to increase sales"
"herd" means a large number of people, but how can I say it with another words.

I meant to add that a strong collocation for herd is 'herd instinct':

We had to buy it, even though he'll never wear it. All his school friends have one and he just had to do the same - it's the herd instinct.
