Default in the results/ on the results

Hi teachers

Which one is correct?

Jack was disappointed in the results / on the results.

Is "in the results" correct?
Can I use " by the results " instead?

Thank you very much.

Happy New Year!

I'd use 'with' or 'by'. I don't like in/on- the preposition is dependent on 'disappointed'.

Let's take these sentences for example and you can find out what prep you should use

1.We were deeply disappointed at/about the result.
2.His parents were bitterly disappointed in/with him.
3.[+ (that)] She was disappointed (that) they hadn't phoned.
4.[+ to infinitive] He was disappointed to find they'd already gone.
5.If you're expecting Dad to let you borrow his car, you're going to be sorely disappointed.

The prep is denpendent on the adj "disappointed"

PS: Happy new year

Hi Tdol

Thank you very much for clarifying that. I think that the preposition "with" is the best choice; it sounds better.

Regards,

Hi Damnit

I`d choose :

1. disappointed about the result
2. disappointed with him

Thank you very much for your reply
