Hi teachers
I want to ask you about some translations in A salm of life by Longfellow.
Firstly
Art is long, and Time is fleeting
And our hearts, though stout and brave,
Still, like muffled drums, are beating
Funeral marches to the grave.
What is the meaning of " beating funeral marhes to the grave?
Secondly
Let us then be up and doing,
With a heart for any fate;
Still achieving, still pursuing,
Learn to labor and to wait.
I wonder what a heart means here.
If it means courage, can you use it as a countable noun?
