Default Transitive verbs

Hi

I know that "enter" is a transitive verb.

My questions are :

1. Is there any situation in which this verb can be used as an intransitive verb?
2. Is the verb "move " transitive and intransitive, as well?

3. What other transitive verbs can you find?

Thank you

"I did not see him enter" would be an intransitive use of the verb enter. The same sentence could be used for move.

A verb that is always transitive, the one I teach my students to use as an example of this property, is put.

Hi Mykwyner

Thank you very much for your reply.
Two more questions, please.
1. In your example, does the verb "see" behave as a causative verb?
2. Can I say :

I did not see him enter [one -time action]
I did not see him entering. [continuous action] ?

Very much obliged

In English, the idea of causative verbs has no bearing on language learning as they are not treated differently than non-causative verbs. See is not causative.

Yes, you can say, "I did not see him entering."
