I came across this sentence in a test on this site,but I am not sure ıf it is correct.Please correct if I am wrong.
Despite being easy,many failed to do the test.(the test on although,however,etc.)
It sounds as if 'being easy' refers to 'many' not to the test.

The questions reads 'despite of being easy' and gives the answer as wrong. If it had 'depite being easy', some would regard that as dangling, though british speakers are often more relaxed about dangling modifiers than American speakers. You could say 'despite it being easy'.
