past tense or past perfect?

1 It was the first,second,third,etc. time that i saw the movie.
........................................... time that i had seen the movie.

2 It was the first,second,third,etc. time that day that they had asked me the same question.
............................................. time that day that they asked me...

No 1: we use past tense b/c it expresses our esperience. I think so

I would use the past perfect in all of those:
It is the first time + present perfect
It was the first time + past perfect
