The question you ask belongs to a specialised area, here IT. 'cos I am not a specialist in IT, I cant give ya a detailed answer . As far as I know, this is an option available in vBB ( If I dunt mistake, vBB is used to create forums, let's take this 4rums as example )

As far as I know, "Automatically parse links in text" option is available for those who has bbcode allowed.

and "parse" is defined ( from the Cambridge dict ) as follows :
parse
verb [T] SPECIALIZED
to separate a sentence into grammatical parts, such as subject, verb, etc.
