"All that make-up she wears actually detracts from her beauty, I think"

She is actually very beautiful, but her beauty is damaged by her makeup as maybe the makeup doesn’t match her or the distinctive makeup make others pay more attention to the makeup rather than she. I am wondering here why the make-up make her less beautiful. Can you give me an exact example?

One mistake doesn't make your achievements less important. I think you are right.
